The safety and health of employees, partners, service providers and the public, the well being of stakeholders and the minimisation of impact on the natural environment are a priority at Lanco. Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) are key focus areas, and integrated into our business operations at every level and vertical, especially since we operate from disparate and often remote locations across the country and are now making our presence felt in the global market place.

The key objective of Lanco's HSE programme is to empower teams to attain a healthy and safe work place with emphasis on zero injury and environmental protection. 'Zero Harm' is the ultimate goal. The achievement of 'Zero Harm' is based on our enduring beliefs that injuries can be prevented, and working safely is a condition of employment. These beliefs find practical implementation through:

  • Employee involvement and ownership
  • Effective employee training
  • Leadership commitment and employee engagement
  • Integrated Management Systems (ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001)
  • Rewards and recognition
  • Audits

Lanco has a comprehensive occupational, result-oriented HSE system in place whose implementation is mandatory in its operations. The HSE management system is guided by our HSE Policy.

Our health and safety strategy is a work in progress, being constantly updated and fine-tuned to sensitise our leaders, employees and contractors, to the imperative need for continuous implementation of risk management practices, behaviour, safety audits, reporting of incidents and near misses, and identification and prevention of risk behaviour at work.
